About Us
SM Training & Development was founded by Mike Lynch. Mike started his career in the public sector and it was here that he first entered Training & Development. Over a number of years he developed his expertise through roles in Skills Training, Training Policy and Strategy, Management Training, Organisational Development and Trainer Training. He moved to the private sector and spent his time in corporate training roles, predominantly in the financial services sector. Here he worked in a finance house, retail banking and investment banking where he held a pan-European role. In addition he undertook consultant assignments in the retail, telecommunications and recruitment sectors.
Having been in a number of senior corporate training roles he has a good understanding of what's expected from the Training & Development function. His commercial acumen, business focus and deep understanding of people development processes, mean he is ideally placed to recognise what’s required to ensure ongoing organisational success. As a 'buyer' of training services over many years Mike has strong views on the standards that should be expected from external providers. On the back of this SM Training & Development work closely with clients to understand the 'business fit'; organisational culture, values and business goals are an important part of any discussion.
